Outdoor activity is one of the activities that are always held in every period. For this period, outdoor activity has a different concept. Usually outdoor activity is held after study activity or called the closing ceremony. But now, outdoor activity is held in the middle of study activity and called the Friday Fun Festival. In this Festival, every class has the obligatory to make a booth depends on their creativity and have to show the performance.
Friday Fun Festival was held on May 29. The days before, our class, Pre Intermediate A discussed to determine a booth. Finally, we chose fishing a fish and palmistry by Vincent. And our themes are Finding Nemo and Finding Yourself. For making our booth, we got one hundred thousand rupiahs, thirty thousand rupiahs from CEIC and seventy thousand rupiahs from us.
On May 28, we worked together for preparing everything, from making a lot of nemo, class identity, and fishing rod until decoration. And we got free palmistry from Vincent. When Frysa came, we made a fishing rod, after that we tried to fish a nemo. But it was difficult, it needed a long time for fishing. Suddenly, Miss Tika came, and she tried to fish, and she passed.
The concept for Finding Nemo was fishing a nemo, an orange fish with black strip. Every person that wanted to try for fishing only paid two thousand rupiahs for 3 minutes. If they passed and got a nemo, they could take a lottery, if they failed they only got consolation prize “momogi”. Whereas the concept for Finding Yourself was reading your palm line, and every person could ask about what they want to know, like career, love life, destiny and others. For Finding Yourself they only paid three thousand rupiahs.
On May 29, we came at 01.00 p.m, because we had to decorate our booth. We got a booth outside, because we played with water. We decorated it with balloons, big nemo from paper, big hand from paper, and others. Our booth had to ready at 04.30 p.m, because there would be an opening ceremony of Friday Fun Festival.
After an opening ceremony, that festival was started. There were a lot of booths in that festival, there were food booth, game booth; tell fortune booth with tarot cards, game for charity booth, merchandise booth, and others. They were interesting booths. I came to the food booth and bought a chocolate pudding. When I moved around, I got free doughnut and brownies. When I went outside, I was interested in the tell fortune booth with tarot card. I wanted to try, but I was afraid. But my friends tried that booth. One of my friends told me, that he had gotten tree cards. They were an old man, young man, and graveyard. But I forgot the meaning.
After I was tired, I came back to my booth, and this was my turn for guarding my booth. I explained to a lot of people, when they asked about the booth. And a lot of people came to our booth. They wanted to try fishing nemo. Some people failed to get a nemo, but some people passed, so they could take a lottery.
This festival was a nice experience for me, because we got closer and could practice to speak in English outside the class, because we must use English for speaking with others. Although we didn’t get reward for the best booth, it’s okay for us, because we got a lot of experience, for organizing people, for preparing anything about our booth, for practicing English, and others.
